Wesbrook Village is the place to be this holiday season. Come for the holiday market and stay for the live music, festive snacks and drinks at Sports Illustrated Clubhouse! This past Friday, Norman MacKenzie Square transformed into a twinkling winter wonderland as the community gathered for the highly anticipated, second annual, Wesbrook Village Tree Lighting Ceremony. The evening was a huge success, bright with festive family fun and music from start to finish.

Introducing Dr. Evergreen McTwinkle, PhD (Festive Studies)
This year’s tree-naming contest lit up our community with creative, clever, and adorable entries, but it was 10-year-old Nakeisha who won the honour of holding the plug and kicking off the festivities. Her winning name for our festive centerpiece was Dr. Evergreen McTwinkle, PhD (Festive Studies).
With her family cheering from the crowd and hundreds of neighbours and visitors bundled up and looking on, Nakeisha had the honour of officially lighting the tree and unveiling its name. Everyone cheered as the lights flicked on, the square lit up in a dazzling display of sparkle, officially launching this year’s Wesbrook Village Holiday Market.

Music, Magic, and Market Vibes
No holiday festival kickoff would be complete without the perfect soundtrack. We were treated to an incredible performance by the Showstoppers Choir, whose high-energy harmonies had the whole crowd singing and clapping along (and a few dancing!) to holiday classics. Throughout the evening, Jada Leroux, a phenomenal solo artist took the mic and led us through a heartwarming carol sing-along that had both kids and adults joining in for old classics and new favourites.
Twinkle lights lit every corner, greenery hung from each market stall, cozy vibes were in full swing, and the square buzzed with that unmistakable holiday and community spirit.

Local Makers + Tasty Treats
The second annual holiday market launched right alongside the ceremony, and the vendors brought their A-game with local goods like candles, handmade stuffies, tasty treats, pottery and more.
From hot cocoa to mulled cider and warm pretzels that disappeared faster than Santa up a chimney, our local cafés and eateries kept everyone fed and happy. The Sports Illustrated Clubhouse patio was warm and inviting and their menu full of special holiday bites and sips.

The Market’s Just Getting Started!
And the holiday fun has only just begun. The Wesbrook Village Holiday Market is hosted by UBC Properties Trust. It runs every weekend now until December 21. The market is the perfect place to shop local, sip something warm, and soak in the festive vibes.
